Dropvi vs SwissTransfer two free 50 GB services
Dropvi and SwissTransfer both send up to 50 GB for free. Recipients download without an account on either. SwissTransfer lets you add a password at no cost, while Dropvi includes PIN or password protection on Business Pro and above.
They differ on how long files stay online, how large transfers are downloaded, which countries you can send from and where files are stored. Which one suits you depends on those points.

Which should you use?
For a transfer under 10 GB that your recipient will download within a week, either service does the job. The points below decide the rest.
SwissTransfer is the better fit if
- Your recipient may need more than 7 days. SwissTransfer keeps files for 15 days, and the sender can extend that to 30 days for free.
- You need files processed only in Switzerland.
- You want sharing with no time limit and are happy to use Infomaniak kDrive.
- You want to add a password without paying. Dropvi includes PIN or password protection on Business Pro and above.
Dropvi is the better fit if
- You send from India, the United Arab Emirates or China, where SwissTransfer is not available for sending.
- You want recipients to preview PDFs, images, video, audio, CSV and text files in the browser before downloading.
- You want a branded subdomain for client handovers, which comes with Business Pro.
Where Dropvi falls short
- Dropvi Free keeps transfers for up to 7 days. SwissTransfer keeps them for 15 days, extendable to 30, at no cost.
- Keeping a Dropvi transfer online for up to 30 days needs Business Pro or Teams & Suite.
- Adding a PIN or password to a Dropvi transfer needs Business Pro or Teams & Suite. SwissTransfer includes an optional password free.
- A dropped ZIP download starts again. For very large transfers, single-file downloads are safer because they can resume.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use SwissTransfer to send files from India?
No. Infomaniak's SwissTransfer guide lists India among the countries where the service is not available for sending, along with the United Arab Emirates and China. People in those countries can still receive SwissTransfer transfers. Dropvi sets no country restrictions on sending.
How long does SwissTransfer keep files?
SwissTransfer deletes files after 15 days. On day 12 the sender is offered an extension to 30 days by email, and the offer stays open for 3 days. Dropvi Free keeps transfers for up to 7 days.
Why can't I download a large SwissTransfer transfer as one ZIP?
SwissTransfer's guide says that if the archive exceeds 10 GB, you need to download the files one by one. On Dropvi, single-file downloads can resume after a dropped connection, so for very large transfers they are safer than one ZIP.
Are both services free?
Yes. SwissTransfer is free with no registration. Dropvi Free sends up to 50 GB per transfer, and sending a link needs no account. Dropvi's paid plans keep transfers for up to 30 days and add PIN or password protection, download limits and a branded subdomain, and their prices are on the pricing page.
Where are the files stored?
SwissTransfer files are encrypted and processed only in Infomaniak's data centres in Switzerland. Dropvi stores files in Cloudflare R2, encrypted at rest with AES-256 and in transit with TLS.
