Send large files without an account: and without a login
Dropvi sends up to 50 GB per transfer without an account. You add the files, get a link and share it. Your recipient opens the link and downloads, and never signs in.
One thing does need an account: having Dropvi email the files to your recipient. For that, you confirm your email address with a one-time code, which creates a free account. The table below shows what needs an account and what does not.

Without an account, a free transfer takes up to 50 GB and stays online for up to 7 days.
How to send without signing in
- Open dropvi.com and add your files. A transfer holds up to 500 files and up to 50 GB.
- Leave the mode on link. Link mode needs no account and no email address.
- Wait for the upload to finish. Dropvi works out a SHA-256 checksum for every file in your browser as it uploads.
- Copy the link and send it by message, chat or your own email. It stays online for up to 7 days.

Use a link if
- You do not want to create an account.
- You want to share the link yourself, in any app. The link contains the key that decrypts the files, which are end-to-end encrypted in your browser.
Use email if
- You want Dropvi to send the link to your recipient for you.
- You want your email address used as the Reply-To, so your recipient can reply to you.
- You are happy to confirm your email address with a one-time code.
- You can send the key another way. An emailed link does not contain the key.
Limits without an account
- The browser uploader cannot resume. If a large upload stops, it starts again. The Dropvi command-line tool can resume, and it needs no account to send.
- Without an account you do not get an email when your recipient starts downloading.
- A PIN, a password and a download limit need Business Pro or above.

Why does sending by email need an account?
To have Dropvi email the files, you confirm your email address with a one-time code. This creates a free account and lets Dropvi use your address as the Reply-To. A link needs neither.
Does my recipient need an account?
No. Recipients never create an account or sign in. They open the link, enter the PIN or password if the sender set one, and download.
Can I send without an account from the command line?
Yes. Run pnpm dlx @zorinto/dropvi-cli send followed by your files, and the CLI prints the share link. Emailing recipients with --to and listing your transfers need you to sign in.
How long does a link last without an account?
Up to 7 days. Links that last up to 30 days need Business Pro or Teams & Suite.
