Which limit you reach first
A transfer can hold up to 500 files and up to 50 GB on the free plan. For most photo deliveries the file count is the limit you reach first.

Calculated as average file size × 500, in decimal units. RAW file sizes vary with the camera, its resolution and its compression setting, so check the size of your own files. Dropvi enforces the free limit as 50 GiB, about 53.7 GB.
How to send a shoot
- If the shoot has more than 500 files, put each set in a ZIP archive first, or send one transfer per set.
- Open dropvi.com and add the files. You do not need an account to send a link.
- On Business Pro and above, add a PIN or password if the images are private, and give it to your client separately from the link.
- Confirm your email address with a one-time code if you want to know when your client starts downloading. Dropvi sends one email when the first download starts.
- Send the link. Your client downloads single images, or every file as one ZIP. Free transfers stay online for up to 7 days.
What your client sees
- No adverts on the download page, and no account or sign-in.
- Images preview in the browser before download. Whether a RAW file shows depends on the client's browser, so include JPEG proofs if your client needs to look before downloading.
- A SHA-256 checksum for every file, worked out in your browser during the upload, so your client can check the files arrived intact.
- Images and their file names are end-to-end encrypted in your browser before upload, so Dropvi cannot see them. Your client's browser decrypts them with the key in the link.
- Previews are turned off on transfers that have a download limit.
Limits to know
- The browser uploader cannot resume. If a large upload stops, it starts again. The free Dropvi command-line tool can resume an interrupted upload.
- A dropped connection during a download is retried automatically. A download that still fails starts again from the beginning.
- Free transfers stay online for up to 7 days. Business Pro and Teams & Suite keep them for up to 30 days.

How do photographers send photos to clients?

Can I send RAW files?
Yes. Dropvi accepts any file type, and your client downloads the original files unchanged. Whether a RAW file previews in the browser depends on your client's browser, so send JPEG proofs alongside if your client needs to look first.

Can I password-protect a gallery?
On Business Pro and above, you can add a PIN or password and a download limit. Dropvi Free does not include them.
Does my client need an account to download?
No. Your client opens the link and downloads. Recipients never sign in.
